Winemaker Description
Bold aromas of smoky oak with a touch of dark plums and cinnamon are smoothly integrated into the luscious and richly dense mid-palate of the Parkers Estate Syrah. The bold character of this wine carries well into the finish with dark berry fruit lingering long on the palate.

The Vineyards
The vineyards of Parkers Estate are located throughout the many micro climates comprising Sonoma’s wine country.  Soil types vary in composition from deep red “Terra Rosa” loams, to weathered volcanic ash. The vines are carefully tended and grown in hedgerows, allowing the late afternoon sun to bathe the grapes in gentle warmth.

Vinification
The grapes for our 2007 Syrah were picked just as they started to dimple – indicating the peak of flavor. They were then gently destemmed and the whole grapes were sent to open-top fermenters. Select Rhone wine yeasts were added the day following crush. Punch-downs occurred three times daily. The wine was pressed at dryness and malo-lactic fermentation carried out in the barrel. Bottling took place after sixteen months of barrel age.

Tasting and Pairing
Aromas of dark plums, aged French oak and clove provide a subtle smokiness to this wine. Silky flavors of black fruit and currant are supported by a firm, spicy core. Enjoy alongside an All-American beef hamburger topped with feta crumbles and Heirloom tomatoes.
