Winemaker Description
Lively and zesty aromas of freshly-cut grass and tropical fruit are abundant in this Sauvignon Blanc. The palate belies its cool-climate origins with tangy acidity, rich flavors and a finish that lingers long after the last sip.
The Vineyards
The vineyards of Parkers Estate are located throughout the many micro climates comprising Sonoma’s wine country. Soil types vary in composition from deep red “Terra Rosa” loams, to weathered volcanic ash. The vines are carefully tended and grown in hedgerows, allowing the late afternoon sun to bathe the grapes in gentle warmth.
Vinification
A blend of sun-exposed and shade-grown grapes were selected for the Parkers Estate Sauvignon Blanc. Tropical fruit nuances come from the sun-exposed grapes and freshly cut grass aromas from the shaded clusters. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh fruit flavors. Gentle filtration removed residual yeast and the wine was cold-bottled in the spring of 2009.
Tasting and Pairing
Aromas of grapefruit and lychee are brought to the nose in this classically crisp variety. Mature fruit flavors accentuate a long finish. Pair this wine with sautéed scallops topped with a light butter and herb sauce.
